Turkish Tekirdag Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S company has received a license for exploration of oil and gas, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey on said in a message on Sept. 25.
The license was issued for the exploration of oil and gas in a total area of 10,700 hectares in the Turkey's Kirklareli Province.
"Tekirdag Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S applied to the Ministry in order to obtain a license for exploration of oil and gas on March 20, 2018," the Ministry said.
The Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources had earlier told Trend that Turkey has expanded the territory of oil and gas exploration in the country.
Earlier there were problems for oil and gas exploration in a number of eastern provinces of Turkey, but now the eastern provinces carry out exploration of hydrocarbon raw materials, the Energy Ministry said.
"Work on oil and gas exploration is carried out on the Black Sea Coast as well," the Ministry added.
The law permitting oil exploration in forests and national parks came into force in Turkey in April 2014.
According to the report of the ministry, a total of 56 wells have been drilled as part of exploration of new oil and gas fields in Turkey since 2014, of which 54 are onshore, and two are offshore.
In 2017, 1863 exploration projects were carried out in Turkey to search for new oil and gas fields.
