ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 20. Turkmenistan and Türkiye continue to strengthen their cooperation in the energy sector, planning to increase gas supplies to 1.3 billion cubic meters (bcm) by the end of 2025, Trend reports.
Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that negotiations are underway to extend existing deals and implement new energy projects.
Bayraktar emphasized that gas deliveries are currently being carried out via the Caspian Sea, and this route will continue to be developed as part of the expanding energy partnership. Additionally, prospects for constructing new energy networks and transmission lines are under consideration.
A final meeting between the leaders of Turkmenistan and Türkiye is expected to take place by the end of 2025, during which new energy agreements are planned to be signed.
The minister also stressed that Türkiye is interested not only in the transit of Turkmen gas but also in further cooperation in oil and gas extraction. In particular, Turkish Petroleum is actively working on the development of the Galkynysh gas field in the Caspian Sea.
Türkiye remains one of Turkmenistan’s largest trading partners. In 2024, trade turnover between the two countries reached $2.2 billion, reflecting strong momentum in bilateral economic relations. That same year, Turkish contractors secured new projects worth $216 million.
