A modern lighting model able to control light is planned to be applied throughout the city of Baku in the next few years, Vladimir Orlov, regional director of the world-famous company CISCO, told Trend.
According to Orlov, the main goal of implementing the Smart City project in large cities is to create the interaction of subsystems with a single system able to control each service from a single-center, which will lead to resource savings, in some cases up to 90 percent.
“Within 2-3 months, we will be able to determine which five services are most effective to achieve the goals that Baku sets for itself. This will allow us to more effectively manage state funds,” he said. “In order to implement such a project with maximum efficiency, a single technical infrastructure is needed, namely, that all state organizations, including private ones, are part of a single infrastructure.”
As the regional director noted, the Smart City project as a separate element already exists in Baku, although yet without a common approach.
“Today one of our important tasks is to unite all these companies into a single IT infrastructure,” he added.
The director also emphasized that in the modern era, the digitalization process is rapidly proceeding, thus increasing the risks of becoming a victim of the cyber threat.
"Our company is a leader in ensuring the protection of its solutions against cyber threats. It’s very important to be proactive and prepared for such attacks. All systems must be protected,” he pointed out. “At the moment, we can’t name any industry that would not be faced with hacker attacks. CISCO pays great attention to the protection of all its products, which today are reliably protected from all threats."
According to him, it’s not quite correct to think that any equipment can be protected in case of its disconnection from the network or the Internet.
“Such a method can be applied, too, and some companies do namely so. It has some advantages, but considering that physical access to equipment is always possible, then we can’t even talk about cybersecurity,” the director further said. “If the devices are disconnected from the network, then IT specialists of the enterprise won’t even know about hacker attacks, and their data will be stolen.”
“CISCO developments always have access to the network, which allows our solutions to find out where and what services are being attacked, so we can work proactively, preventing fraudsters from hacking our networks," added Orlov.
