ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 22. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a loan of up to $10 million to Empire Manufacturing Kazakhstan (EMK) to help the company establish a modernized coffee-processing plant, Trend reports via the bank.
This project is set to create jobs and raise industry standards in Kazakhstan's food-processing sector.
The EBRD’s senior loan will enable EMK to build and equip a state-of-the-art coffee facility in the Khorgos Free Economic Zone. EMK, a subsidiary of the multinational Food Empire Holdings, aims to produce high-quality coffee products, including instant beverages, at the new plant.
With up to 50 percent of its production expected to be exported to growing demand centers in Central Asia and the Caucasus, the project is expected to strengthen EMK’s market position in the region. The new facility will serve as a model for Kazakhstan and Central Asia's food-processing industry, setting new benchmarks in technology and hygiene standards.
The EBRD has invested over 1 billion euro in 335 projects across Kazakhstan, with a focus on supporting private sector development.
