Kyrgyzstan records rise in consumer prices and tariffs

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 11. Consumer prices and tariffs in Kyrgyzstan increased by 5.5 percent by the end of August 2023, compared to end of December 2022, Trend reports.

Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows that the prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 9.5 percent, non-food items by 8.2 percent, food products and non-alcoholic beverages by 3 percent, and tariffs for services provided to the population by 6.2 percent.

The increase in consumer prices and tariffs was observed in all regions of the country.

Specifically, the most substantial price growth, amounting to 11.8 percent, was recorded in the Naryn region. This surge was primarily attributed to the significant increase in prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products by 17.3 percent, non-food items by 15.4 percent, food products and non-alcoholic beverages by 7.9 percent.

Additionally, tariffs for services offered to the population in the Naryn increased by 13.6 percent during the period under review compared to other regions.
