BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 18. Kyrgyzstan's investments in fixed capital totaled 56.8 billion soms ($654 million) in January–March 2025.
According to data obtained by Trend from the National Statistics Committee, the figure increased by 90.6 percent year-on-year. For comparison, the growth rate during the same period of 2024 was 63.9 percent.
The rise in fixed capital investment was primarily driven by a more than twofold increase in domestic sources of financing, while external sources declined by 1.5 times compared to January–March 2024.
Nearly 93 percent of the total investments were directed toward the construction of facilities in key sectors such as mining, manufacturing, information and communications, electricity and gas supply, education, and residential housing.
The substantial capital inflows into the economy during the reporting period were attributed to several major developments:
Expansion of residential construction under the Menin Uyum housing program;
Construction of a new dry-process clinker production line at the Kant Cement Plant;
Increased investments in the modernization and development of telecommunications infrastructure, including new base stations installed by mobile operators MegaCom (Alfa Telecom) and O! (Nur Telecom);
Ongoing implementation of the ring road construction project around Lake Issyk-Kul;
Enhanced capital expenditures by the Bishkek City Hall aimed at developing urban infrastructure;
Growth in investments focused on expanding the country’s tourism infrastructure.
Reflecting the rise in capital investment, the gross output of the construction sector amounted to 49 billion soms ($561.7 million) in the first quarter of 2025, an increase of 69 percent compared to the same period in 2024, when growth stood at 51.1 percent.
The construction sector’s contribution to GDP was estimated at 3.03 percentage points, with its share in the overall GDP production structure reaching 6.6 percent.
