BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 14. The EU Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) supports the enhancement of border control procedures and methods in Turkmenistan, a source in the BOMCA 10 told Trend.

To note, BOMCA 10 support is aimed at improvement of border check methods and enhancing the border check procedures and advancement of border check procedures and modalities in line with international standards and best practices (e.g. e-gates, joint border checks/BCPs - one stop control, API, sea border checks, etc.).

At the same time, it was added that border management initiatives in Turkmenistan are linked to many programmatic aims, such as improving overall security through improved document security, risk analysis and profiling capabilities and strengthening capacities of border guards.

"Strengthening educational institutions through bilateral, multilateral and regional exchanges, developing and implementing additional distance learning tools, encouraging women's participation through quotas are also among the programmatic aims," said the source.

Meanwhile, the BOMCA 10 project is implemented by a Consortium of the border management agencies of the selected member states of the EU and International Center of Migration Police Development, led by the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia.

Overall objective of BOMCA 10 - to enhance security, stability, and sustainable growth in the region, as well as support cross-border cooperation and improve living conditions for people living in border areas of Central Asia.
