Volume of gas transported for domestic consumption in Iran shows growth

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. The volume of gas transported for domestic consumption in Iran during six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024) increased by 13.6 percent compared to the same period last year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), the executive director of Iran's Gas Transmission Company, Peyman Khadraei told reporters, Trend reports.

He claims that the country's gas network has transported 133 bcm of gas for local consumption over the past six months.

Khadraei noted that the volume of gas transported for local consumption in the same period last year was 117 bcm.
The official reported the installation of a new gas pressure boosting unit and the repair of 57 gas turbines as part of the country's gas transportation network. Additionally, the main gas pipelines underwent relevant repair works.

Meanwhile, the main task of the Iranian Gas Transmission Company is to transport natural gas, ethane, liquefied gas, gas condensate, or swap products within the country. This company has ten operating zones in ten Iranian provinces. This company has more than 38,000 kilometers of pipelines, 88 gas pressure stations, and nine gas export and import terminals. It can transport more than 280 bcm of gas per year.

During the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), Iran transported a total of 275 bcm of gas. This is 1.5 percent more than the year before (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023).
