BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 12. Iran will allocate 7.98 trillion rials (about $12.2 million) in funding for the launch of new fisheries facilities during the Iranian Agricultural Week (June 11-18, 2025).
Data obtained by Trend from the country's Fisheries Organization indicates that the investment will be used to commission fisheries-related facilities across 25 provinces under 82 individual projects.
The organization reported that these initiatives are expected to create employment for 323 people and increase the country’s fish production by nearly 1,940 tons and 29.2 million individual fish.
The province of Golestan will see the highest number of new facilities, with 13 shrimp production units to be launched there.
To note, Iran annually catches and cultivates over 1.25 million tons of fish, with around 700,000 tons from capture fisheries and more than 550,000 tons from aquaculture.
