BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. The mining volume in Iran's Semnan Province amounted to 16 million tons for the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), Chairman of the Semnan Province's Industry, Mining, and Trade Organization Yadigar Ahmadi said at an event involving representatives of the province's industrial and mining sectors today, Trend reports.
Ahmadi said that Semnan Province ranked second among Iran's 31 provinces in terms of mining last year.
He pointed out that minerals are extracted from 640 deposits, and 2,250 industrial enterprises operate in Semnan Province.
The organization representative added that the province's industrial enterprises employ 60,000 people.
"The province's industrial enterprises were allocated $527 million for various purposes in the last Iranian year and $1.08 billion for this year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025)," he added.
To note, Semnan Province has deposits of 42 types of minerals. The proven mineral reserves in this province are 600 million tons, with estimated reserves of around one billion tons.
