BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13. About 235 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iran's ports during the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), Deputy Minister of Road and Urban Development, Acting Head of Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran Saeed Rasouli told reporters, Trend reports.
He stated that during the mentioned period, the volume of shipped cargo amounted to about 153 million tons and the volume of unloaded cargo 82.3 million tons.
Rasouli mentioned that 103 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products, as well as nearly 132 million tons of non-oil products, were loaded and unloaded in Iranian-owned ports during the last Iranian year.
The official noted that about 3.08 million TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at the ports during the mentioned period, which is an increase of 13 percent compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023 through March 20, 2024).
The current throughput capacity of Iranian ports is more than 285 million tons. Iran is taking steps to increase the capacity of ports to 500 million tons.
