Azerbaijan’s oil exports surge 10.6% in 8M2026

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 15. Azerbaijan’s oil exports rose by 10.6% in value terms over the first eight months of this year.

According to Trend’s calculations based on data from Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee, 14.678 million metric tons of crude oil and petroleum products derived from bituminous rocks were exported from Azerbaijan to other countries in the period from January through August, totaling $9.282 billion.

The agency reports that, compared to the same period in 2025, this represents an increase of $886 million, or 10.6%, in value terms, while in volume terms, the figure decreased by 1.247 million metric tons, or 7.8%.

The committee's data shows that in the period from January through August 2026, Azerbaijan conducted trade transactions with foreign countries totaling $33.238 billion.

The report emphasizes that over the reporting period, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover increased by $1.12 billion, or 3.49%, compared to the same period last year.

In addition, it is noted that of the total foreign trade volume, $21.815 billion was accounted for by exports, and $11.423 billion by imports. According to the agency’s calculations based on the committee’s data, exports thus increased by $4.75 billion, or 27.83%, over the past year, while imports decreased by $3.63 billion, or 24.11%.

Consequently, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade balance posted a surplus of $10.392 billion. Compared with the same period last year, this figure increased by $8.379 billion, or 5.2 times.
