The Technological Institute of Izmir intends to create the first domestic unmanned automobile, Sabah newspaper reported on Tuesday.
The institute applied to Turkey's Ministry of Transport for about 10 billion lira worth of financial support for working out the project.
The institute maintains that three years after the launch of the project, the first unmanned automobile will be commissioned.
The newspaper reports that the first project will be the creation of the unmanned taxi, which will be hailed with smartphone apps.
