Azerbaijan discloses amount of VAT refund to consumers

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 6. More than 43.8 million manat, or $25.6 million, was returned to consumers in Azerbaijan from January through March 2024 as part of the value-added tax (VAT) refund project, Trend reports via the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy.

According to service, in order to refund a certain part of VAT, the consumer, i.e., the party making a purchase or using a service, must be a natural person, and the seller, or the party providing the service - a VAT payer.

To date, more than 2.7 million users have registered on the "edvgerial.az" portal to refund part of the VAT paid for purchased goods.

Since the implementation of the project until April 1, 2024, more than 1.5 billion cash receipts have been refunded with VAT amounting to 559.5 million manat, or $327.1 million, to consumers registered on the portal.

In 2023, more than 154.18 million manat, or $90.1 million of VAT, was refunded to consumers for goods or services purchased by cashless payment.
