BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 14. The reception of vehicles for utilization continues under the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Waste.”
In response to Trend's inquiry, Tamiz Shahar Open Joint Stock Company stated that from October last year to date 223 vehicles have been handed over for utilization, and this figure is growing every day.
The participants of the program conducted under “Tamiz Shahar” Open Joint Stock Company have received lump sum payments of over 140,000 manat ($82,353) depending on the classification of the donated vehicles. In addition, they were offered a discount of 25,000 manat ($14,706) for purchasing new locally produced cars.
The transfer of vehicles for utilization is carried out voluntarily.
According to the current requirements, the vehicle must be removed from the state registration under the procedure established by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan, “On Road Traffic." Then, information about the vehicle must be included in the portal, www.nvu.gov.az. Thereafter, the vehicle is delivered to the recycler's reception point at the appointed time.
Currently, the sole registered entity within "Baku Fors” LLC is engaged in the acceptance of vehicles for the purpose of utilization. The submissions for the registration of additional stakeholders are currently under evaluation, with a strategic initiative to establish collection hubs across various regions of the nation in the forthcoming timeline.
To note, Tamiz Shahar operates as a pivotal entity dedicated to enhancing the ecological framework of the urban landscape by implementing and overseeing a comprehensive system for the strategic placement and neutralization of solid domestic waste produced within the jurisdiction of Baku, aligning with contemporary standards and best practices. The establishment was executed pursuant to the presidential decree issued by Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, titled “On enhancing the governance of municipal waste management within the urban confines of Baku,” dated August 6, 2008. On March 12, 2009, “Tamiz Shahar” OJSC underwent state registration and initiated its operational activities.
