BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 17. As many as 18.5 million tons of cargo and 8.5 million passengers were transported by rail in Azerbaijan in 2024.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Statistics Committee shows that compared to 2023, freight transportation increased by 1.4 percent, and passenger transportation - by 18.7 percent.
Meanwhile, it was noted that an average of 369 cars were loaded and 441 cars were unloaded per day.
To note, the northern direction of the railroad performed loading operations in the amount of 17,200 tons, the western direction - 4,200 tons, and the southern direction - 700 tons.
