BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 6. Azerbaijan welcomed over 172,000 foreign nationals and stateless individuals in January 2025, marking a significant increase in international tourism.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Tourism Agency shows that this figure represents a 4 percent, or 6,785 people, rise compared to January 2024. Meanwhile, around 165,868 foreign visitors and stateless persons traveled to Azerbaijan in January 2023.
Notably, the highest numbers of tourists for the reporting month came from Russia, with 41,490 arrivals; Türkiye, with 31,632 arrivals; and India, with 17,733 arrivals.
In addition, Azerbaijan welcomed 15,087 tourists from Iran, 8,710 from Georgia, 6,193 from Saudi Arabia, 5,540 from Kazakhstan, 5,476 from the United Arab Emirates, 5,270 from Pakistan, 3,724 from Kuwait, 2,978 from Uzbekistan, 2,860 from Turkmenistan, 2,603 from China, 2,438 from Ukraine, and 2,033 from Israel, in January 2025.
