BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 12.​ Azerbaijan imported 7.9 million kWh of electricity from Russia in January of this year.

Data obtained by Trend from the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee indicates that the cost of importing this volume of electricity was $210,000.

The electricity imports from Russia decreased by 748,000 kWh in volume and 44,000$ in value, which represents a 17.3 percent reduction compared to January 2024.

In the first month of last year, Azerbaijan imported 8.6 million kWh of electricity from Russia, valued at 254,000$.

Azerbaijan imported 10.7 million kWh of electricity in January of this year, and the cost of importing this volume of electricity was $290,000.

Compared to the same month last year, electricity imports grew by 2.1 million kWh or 24 percent in volume and by $36,000 or 14.2 percent in value.

Thus, in the first month of last year, the volume of electricity imported to Azerbaijan was 8.6 million kWh, and the value - $254,000.

In January this year, Azerbaijan imported electricity from Russia, Georgia and Iran.
