ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 29. A wagon cleaning facility at the Turkmenbashi railway station in the Balkan region of Turkmenistan is being modernized, Trend reports.
The corresponding work was assigned by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov following a report from the head of the Transport and Communications Agency.
At a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, the general director of the agency, Mammetkhan Chakyev, spoke about the work of the "Türkmendemirýollary" (Turkmenistan Railways) agency. He reported that a modernization project for the wagon cleaning facility at the Turkmenbashi railway station is being prepared to strengthen the material and technical base of the railway industry and improve working conditions for employees.
Summarizing his report, the president underscored the importance of utilizing the full potential of the country’s modern railway infrastructure. He noted that the operations of the railway stations should meet the demands of the times.
Additionally, in October 2024, the Turkmenistan Railways Agency announced an international tender for the design and construction of a new railway car repair plant in the Gyzylarbatsky district. It is expected that the plant will serve not only Turkmenistan's domestic rolling stock but also the needs of neighboring countries, which will significantly expand repair capabilities and enhance the efficiency of railway transport in the region.
These initiatives are part of a comprehensive national program aimed at developing Turkmenistan’s transportation system, strengthening its material and technical base, and creating comfortable conditions for passengers and industry workers.
