ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 11. Kazakhstan's gasification rate has risen from 53 percent in early 2022 to 61.8 percent by 2025, said Sanzhar Zharkeshov, Chairman of JSC "NC QazaqGaz," at the Energy Trends: Gas & Petrochemicals forum, Trend reports via QazaqGaz.
He noted that gasification has been completed in such large urban agglomerations as Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent.
" Despite external challenges, the country has succeeded in ensuring uninterrupted gas supply and enhancing the reliability of the gas transportation system. Infrastructure projects worth over 700 billion tenge have been implemented using our own funds," said the Chairman of QazaqGaz.
Zharkeshov also emphasized that systematic geological exploration has begun in the sector, and initial results are already being seen. Both Kazakh and international investors have been involved, and the first gas flows have been recorded. At the same time, the active implementation of digital solutions powered by artificial intelligence is underway, signaling a shift toward a new technological model.
The official added that, among the priority projects are the construction of a gas processing plant at the Kashagan field, gasification of the northeastern regions, major repairs of the "Central Asia – Center" main gas pipeline, construction of the "Taldykorgan – Usharal" and "Aktobe – Kostanay" gas pipelines, the second string of the "Beineu – Bozoy – Shymkent" pipeline, and the construction of the KCS-14 compressor station.
Furthermore, Sanzhar Zharkeshov announced that the Energy Trends
forum will evolve into the country’s largest specialized platform
in the future—the Astana Gas Forum. The event will focus on the key
challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
According to the Chairman of QazaqGaz, Kazakhstan’s gas sector is
on the verge of making pivotal decisions that will shape the
country’s energy security and economic resilience for decades to
come.
