ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 23. Kazakhstan's Prime Minister, Olzhas Bektenov, at a government meeting instructed to expand the coverage of gasification in the country, setting a goal to bring it to 65 percent in the country, Trend reports.
"Currently, the gasification coverage in the country stands at about 62.4 percent. According to the general gasification scheme, this indicator is planned to reach 65 percent by 2030," said Bektenov.
According to him, large-scale projects such as the construction of the second string of the main gas pipeline "Beineu – Bozoi – Shymkent" and the "Taldykorgan-Usharal" gas pipeline are currently being implemented to achieve this goal.
"The work on these projects must be kept under constant control," added Olzhas Bektenov.
The data from the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan shows that the gas production in the country in 2024 amounted to 59 billion m³. The production target for 2025 is 62.8 billion m³. Gas production in the first quarter of 2025 reached 17.2 billion m³. The main increase in gas production is expected to come from large fields such as Karachaganak, Tengiz, and Kashagan.
