The volume of construction operations increased by 8.2 per cent to 6.4 billion manat in Azerbaijan in January-October 2013 compared to the same period of 2012, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said on Tuesday.
According to the committee, some 66.4 per cent of the total volume of construction operations accounted for primary construction, reconstruction and expansion, 17.7 per cent - overhaul, 2.9 per cent - current repair and 13 per cent - other construction work.
Some 79.5 per cent of the construction work was carried out by non-state construction companies.
Around 100,500 people were involved in the Azerbaijani construction sector in January-October 2013. The nominal wages in the construction sector amounted to 612.6 manat, which is 6.7 per cent more than in the same period of last year.
The average salary in state-owned companies amounted to 498.7 manat (with a 7.9 per cent increase per year), private companies - 665.1 manat (with a 3.4 per cent increase).
The level of wages in the construction of buildings increased by 1.6 per cent per year - an average of 558.6 manat, specialized construction (increased by 4.7 per cent) - up to 746.4 manat, civil construction operations increased by 32.2 per cent - up to 593.8 manat.
