Japanese government will allocate an additional 200 million yen to Georgia. A ceremony of signing and exchange of notes on the allocation of 200 million yen ($1.9 million) to Georgia within non-project grant aid will take place on Jan.20 at Georgian Finance Ministry, Japanese embassy in Georgia told Trend.
The documents will be signed by Japanese ambassador to Georgia Toshio Kaitani and Georgian Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri.
The sum allocated within the non-project grant aid will be directed for the purchase of equipment for environmental protection and the prevention of natural disasters. This aid will contribute to the improvement of early warning system for natural hazards and reduce risks and damage. Japanese technology will be used for this purpose.
Japan has already implemented a number of projects under the grant aid, technical cooperation and other forms of assistance. Japan's aid to Georgia amounts to over $364 million, which is being used for improving economic infrastructure, agricultural and social sectors, the development of culture and human resources.
