Kazakh carmaker Saryarka will supply a cargo of the Uzbek Ravon cars, produced in Kazakhstan’s Kostanai, to Russia.
“We have launched a joint production of Ravon R3 cars, which have become popular in Kazakhstan," Director of Saryarka Sirpi Seneybiyev said during the first Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan interregional cooperation forum, Uzbek media reported.
"Thanks to the production in Kazakhstan, this model has become even more popular," Seneybiyev said. "This is our joint project with Uzbek partners eligible for the certificate for Kazakh assembly. The certificate allows the production to enjoy extensive state support programs."
According to him, the company will complete the production of 130 cars for the domestic market in the near future, whereas about 170 cars have already been prepared for export to Russia.
In line with an agreement on long-term cooperation, Uzavtosanoat and Saryarka are implementing a joint project to export products to foreign markets, including the EEU market. The document also provides for further deepening of production localization and development of new models.
In 2018, GM Uzbekistan sold about 5,100 cars in Russia. The last sale of 508 Ravon cars of the Uzbek assembly was carried out in May 2018.
In January-October 2018, Uzbekistan produced 148,300 cars, which is 31.7 percent more compared to the same period in 2017.
