High prices for locally produced potatoes are observed only for high quality products, Head of the Azerbaijan Fruit and Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association Bashir Guliyev told Trend.
High-quality potatoes are among the most healthy foods, he said.
"Such potatoes are grown in a number of regions of Azerbaijan, and are sold at higher prices compared to other root crops imported from Russia, Turkey and Iran," Guliyev said.
Further, he talked the reason for the rise in prices for domestic tomatoes.
"The rise in tomato prices is seasonal. In winter, as a rule, prices for this type of agricultural products are rising. During this period tomatoes are grown in greenhouses, which implies certain additional costs, ultimately affecting the cost of production," he said.
Guliyev noted that the decline in prices for these agricultural goods will begin in about a couple of months.
