Uzbekistan intends to create a national freight forwarding company, as well as open offices in major international ports, Trend reports with reference to the decree of the head of state.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the Ministry of Transport and Ministries of Foreign Trade and Investments to make proposals by 1 June 2019 for the creation of a national freight forwarding company specializing in "reverse loading" of national carriers abroad and being the operator of a single electronic logistics portal among other things.
At the same time, the relevant departments should submit proposals to the government for the creation of representative offices, front offices and stevedoring companies in major seaports of the Black Sea basin, the Caspian and Mediterranean seas, the Persian Gulf, and ports located on transcontinental sea nodes.
Moreover, the president instructed by October 1 to take measures to attract the world's leading transport companies to create joint transport and logistics enterprises in the country specializing in international freight transport.
Furthermore, it is planned to develop a draft Concept for a Central Asian hub until September 1, aimed at the phased creation of a center for transfer flows between points in Southeast Asia, South Asia, CIS countries and Europe.
Nowadays, the transportation of goods from Uzbekistan is carried out in nine directions. About 20 international transport routes and directions, oriented to the Russian Federation, Ukraine, European countries, the Caucasus, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and China, pass through Uzbek territory.
The total length of highways in the country is more than 40,000 km, international routes - more than 3,000 km.
