TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 17. During his visit to the Andijan region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with a proposal for a $250 million investment from a Chinese company to build a modern multifunctional complex, Trend reports, citing the Uzbek president’s office.
As part of a large-scale urban development program recently announced for the city of Babur, this initiative has already attracted strong interest from international investors. The Chinese investor plans to develop a 55-hectare site featuring a business center, hotel, shopping complexes, and 3,000 residential apartments.
In addition, as part of the region’s energy expansion, 763 small and micro-hydropower plants with a combined capacity of 24 megawatts are set to be launched in Andijan this year, with another 20 megawatts planned for next year.
To support this initiative, the Chinese company expressed its commitment to localizing equipment manufacturing in the region. Furthermore, all newly commissioned hydropower stations will be serviced free of charge during their first year of operation.
During the meeting, detailed information on these and other projects was presented. The president instructed responsible officials to intensify efforts to attract investments, foster close cooperation with investors, and create the necessary conditions to ensure the successful implementation of these initiatives.
The president’s visit to the Andijan region concluded with his return to Tashkent.
