Modernization and commissioning of new production facilities based on the latest technologies is a priority of the Thermal Power Plants Joint Stock Company (JSC TPP), the TPP told Trend on March 1.
According to the information, currently Uzbekistan is at a new stage in the development of the energy industry - the introduction and use of modern highly efficient energy-saving technologies.
“Over the past years, we have studied the experience of large companies in the energy sector of a number of leading countries of the world - Japan, the US and Europe. We are actively introducing the latest energy efficient technologies. In addition, we have achieved a significant reduction in fuel consumption by one kilowatt-hour,” the TPP said.
Also, according to the TPP, by the end of 2020, the commissioning of new generating capacities based on modern technologies, and the share of modern energy efficient installations reached the level of 4,309 megawatt (30.8 percent).
In addition, the Takhiatash TPP, located in the north-west of the country, in the latitudes of Karakum and Kyzylkum, generates 10 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per day, which is equivalent to the annual load of the first unit of this TPP, launched sixty years ago.
“The annual electricity generation of the Takhiatash TPP, which supplies electricity to the Karakalpakstan and the Khorezm region, the main source of which is natural gas, amounted to three billion kilowatt-hours of electricity,” the JSC stressed.
It was also noted that the new stage of development, taking place within the framework of the "green" economy, puts on the agenda the active use of modern, efficient and economical technologies for the implementation of strategic objectives.
The Korean consortium Hyundai, the general contractor for the huge facility, is reported to have nearly completed construction work involving 13 internationally renowned companies for a total of $678.2 million.
The JSC stressed that as a result the station will increase its capacity and will generate 3.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. The new device consumes 266 grams of fuel, which will save 488.6 million cubic meters of "blue gold" per year. At the same time, the efficiency of the station will increase by almost 70 percent compared to the current level.
“Despite the fact that the whole world is experiencing a coronavirus pandemic, many enterprises are in crisis, and roads and borders are closed, this unique investment project will be implemented as scheduled,” the TPP said.
