Iran will completely stop importing catalysts in the petrochemical sector in the coming years, Deputy Oil Minister and Executive Director of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company, Behzad Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.
According to the deputy minister, the value of catalysts used in Iran's petrochemical sector is annually about $270 million.
Mohammadi added that 40 types of main catalysts are used in the petrochemical sector in Iran. So far, Iran has manufactured 19 types of catalysts domestically, and 9 more catalysts will be manufactured domestically by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2022).
“The research is underway to manufacture the remaining 12 catalysts domestically in the coming years,” he said.
The director also stressed the presentation of two catalysts will be held in Iran tomorrow on Apr. 15. These catalysts are polypropylene and heavy polyethylene catalysts. Thus, Iran will no longer import these catalysts.
In addition, the ethane production unit of Palayesh Parsian Sepehr Company will also be put into operation tomorrow, Mohammadi noted.
