Iran shares data on water reserves in country’s dams

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15. The water reserve of Iran's dams is currently 25.4 billion cubic meters, Trend reports.

According to the information of Iran Water Resources Management Company, at present, 52 percent of the country's water dams are full, while 48 percent are empty.

During the past 324 days (September 23, 2022 through August 12, 2023), a total of 37.8 billion cubic meters of water entered Iran's dams, which is an increase of 27 percent compared to the previous similar period (September 23, 2021 through August 12, 2022).

At the same time, 31.4 billion cubic meters of water was released from the country’s dams for drinking, and technical use in agriculture, industry and other sectors. This shows a 16 percent increase compared to the previous similar period.

Reportedly, the biggest drought in Iran in the last 50 years was recorded in the autumn of last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022). Taking into account that Iran is located in a drought zone, the country's officials point out the importance of reducing and controlling water consumption in various areas.
