Moody's rates Azerbaijan as having lowest share of non-performing loans mid CIS nations

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 21. Based on the assessment of the situation in banks of 5 CIS nations, the international rating agency Moody's has claimed that Azerbaijan's banking sector has the lowest share of problem loans in the total amount of loans provided, Trend reports via Moody's.

This agency presented an infographic on this indicator for 2017-2022.

According to this information, the share of problem loans by Azerbaijani banks in 2017 accounted for about 22 percent of the total volume of issued loans, and already in 2022, this indicator has decreased to four percent.

At the same time, a two-fold decrease in the share of problem loans (not repaid) was recorded in 2019.

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan reports that the share of problem loans in the structure of business loans in the country decreased to 3 percent by the end of 2023 (to 377.98 million manat ($222 million) against 507.3 million manat ($298 million) in 2022).
