BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 10. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports decreased by 9.9 percent from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023), to May 10, 2023, compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports via today's report of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
Overall, about 19.3 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports during the reporting period, while the figure stood at approximately 21.4 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Some 6.04 million tons of crude oil and related products were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports within the mentioned period. This is a decrease of 22.4 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (about 7.79 million tons).
The volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 270,000 tons. This is a decrease of 11.4 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (300,000 tons).
The volume of other container shipments was 2.93 million tons, which is a decrease of 13.2 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (about 3.38 million tons).
The general cargo volume stood at 2.95 million tons showing an 8.9-percent decrease compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (3.24 million tons).
Dry bulk cargo volume reached 6.95 million tons. This is an increase of 6.9 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (6.51 million tons).
The liquid bulk cargo was 370,000 tons. This is 16.9 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (450,000 tons).
The cargo was loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Arvandkenar, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Tiab, Jask, Chabahar, Charak, Chavibdeh, Khorramshahr, Dayyer, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Shahid Haqqani, Fereidoonkenar, Qeshm, Genaveh, Bandar Lengeh, and Noshahr.
