ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 3. The government of
Kazakhstan has issued a decree establishing the SEZ (Special
Economic Zone) "Khorgos – Eastern Gate" in the Zhetysu region of
Kazakhstan with a territory of 5,431.5 hectares, Trend reports.
The goals of creating the free economic zone are accelerated
development of modern, high-performance, competitive industries;
formation of a qualitatively new level of service provision;
attracting investments; implementing new technologies in the
economy and the region; and increasing employment.
Furthermore, it aims to create an effective transport-logistics and industrial center that supports trade-export activities and realizes Kazakhstan's transit potential, promoting economic and cultural exchange with neighboring countries. Another goal is the development of cross-border trade and economic cooperation.
Achieving these objectives will not only strengthen the economic potential of Kazakhstan's Zhetysu region but also enhance the country’s role as an important transport-logistics hub in Eurasia. The creation of the SEZ "Khorgos – Eastern Gate" will be a powerful impetus for attracting investors, developing new technologies, and expanding international cooperation, ultimately contributing to sustainable economic growth and improving the quality of life for the region’s population.
