BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 7. Kyrgyzstan and Belarus reviewed the schedule of upcoming contacts at the highest and high levels, including planned visits through the foreign ministries, Trend reports via the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The discussion took place on January 6, 2026, during a telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Maksim Ryzhenkov.

During the call, the heads of the foreign ministries discussed current issues on the Kyrgyz-Belarusian bilateral agenda and prospects for further development of cooperation.

In the context of preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Bishkek, the sides also exchanged views on the substantive agenda and issues of interaction within the organization.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is a Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance founded in 2001 by China, Russia, and Central Asian nations (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan) to foster regional stability, combat terrorism, and promote economic cooperation, with members like India, Pakistan, and Iran joining later, making it a significant geopolitical bloc focused on a multipolar world order and countering Western influence.
