Tajikistan notes decrease in outbound labor migration

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 16. The number of labor migrants leaving Tajikistan in 2023 amounted to 652,014 people, which is 16 percent lower than in 2022 (775,578), Trend reports.

According to the Ministry of Labor, Migration, and Employment of the Population of Tajikistan, among them were 554,804 men, which is 15 percent lower than in 2022, and 97,210 women, or 20 percent fewer than in 2022.

Out of the total number of migrants leaving abroad, 627,028 people went to Russia, 18,418 to Kazakhstan, and 6,568 to other countries.

To provide employment for labor migrants abroad, currently, 46 economic entities in Tajikistan have a license from the Migration Service of the Ministry and are engaged in exporting labor beyond the country's borders.

Out of the total number of labor-exporting entities, 28 economic entities were able to organize the departure of 12,297 labor migrants abroad during the reporting period and provide them with jobs, which is 8,461 more people compared to 2022.
