TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 15. A new combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant with a capacity of 550 MW will be established in the Sharaf-Rashidovsky district of Uzbekistan's Jizzakh region with the help of investments by the Turkish Cengiz Enerji company, Trend reports.

The project is estimated at $500 million and is scheduled for completion in 2025.

The annual electricity production of the plant is set to exceed 4 billion kWh, allowing for substantial gas savings, projected at 700 million cubic meters.

Electricity sales will be managed in collaboration with the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan, and in return, the NES commits to acquiring the electricity for a duration of 25 years.

The agreement specifies a fixed tariff denominated in foreign currency, with payment executed in the national currency.

Meanwhile, in November 2022, Cengiz Enerji put into operation a thermal power plant in the Khavast district of Uzbekistan’s Sirdorya region.

The capacity of the TPP is 220 MW, which is set to generate 1.7 billion kWh of electricity per year.

Moreover, Uzbekistan plans to attract $7 billion of private investment to create an additional 9 GW of generating capacity. The total volume of necessary investments in the electric power industry is estimated at $52 billion.
