Iran's South Khorasan province opts for Afghanistan as vital export destination

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. A total of 91.1 percent of products from South Khorasan Province, located in northeastern Iran, were exported to Afghanistan during six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024), director general of the Customs Administration of Iran's South Khorasan Province Mohammad Kouhgerd said, Trend reports.

According to him, 521,000 tons of products worth more than $94 million were exported from South Khorasan Province to Afghanistan during the six months.

Kouhgerd added that 42,800 tons of products worth $3.35 million were exported from South Khorasan province to Pakistan during six months. This accounted for 3.25 percent of the province's product exports.

The official emphasized that 23,600 tons of products worth $2.87 million were exported from the province to Iraq over six months. This constituted 2.87 percent of the province's product exports.

“About 607,000 tons of products worth $103 million were exported from the province during the six months. Exports of products increased by 31 percent in value compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023)," he noted.

To note, Iran exported 70 million tons of non-oil products worth $25.8 billion during the six months. Exports of the products increased by 6.5 percent in value and 3.5 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
