Iran curtails product imports from Kazakhstan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 29. Iran's imports of products from Kazakhstan decreased 18.3 percent in value and 1 percent in weight during nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through December 20, 2024) compared to the same month of last year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023).

The data obtained by Trend from the country's Customs Administration shows that Iran's imports from Kazakhstan totaled 106,000 tons worth $41.5 million during nine months.

The statistics show that for nine months last year, Iran imported 111,000 tons of products worth $50.9 million from Kazakhstan.

The information adds that Iran imported mainly agricultural products, various equipment, and other products from Kazakhstan.

Moreover, the statistics note that for nine months, Iran's trade turnover with Kazakhstan amounted to about 470,000 tons worth $244 million.

To note, Iran's imports of non-oil products amounted to 27.9 million tons worth about $50.9 billion. Iran's imports of non-oil products increased by 5 percent in value and decreased by 3.16 percent in weight over nine months compared to last year.

Iran mainly focuses on imports of essential goods required by the country and imposes certain restrictions on imports of products manufactured in the country.
