Iran accelerates crude oil output expansion in West Karun fields

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 5. The work on increasing crude oil production from oil fields west of the Karun River in southern Iran is continuing, Trend reports via the Iranian Oil Ministry.

The information points out that there are 14 oil fields in the western part of the Karun River. Of them, Yadavaran, Yaran, and Azadegan fields can be singled out.

Currently, Iran's oil production from oil fields in the western part of the Karun River is 500,000 barrels per day. Iran is following a plan to increase production from these fields to 1 million barrels per day.

The crude oil reserves identified in the oil fields to the west of the Karun River stand at 120 billion barrels.

Currently, Iran has 74 active oil fields and 22 gas fields. 37 oil fields are operating under the Southern Oil Zones National Company of Iran, 14 under the Central Oil Zones Company of Iran, five under the Arvandan Oil and Gas Production Company, and 18 under the Offshore Oil Company. Additionally, five gas fields are operating under the Southern Oil Zones National Company of Iran, 13 under the Central Oil Zones Company, one under the Pars Oil and Gas Company, and three under the Offshore Oil Company.

Iran's total hydrocarbon reserves are 1.2 trillion barrels. Iran can produce 340 billion barrels with existing technological equipment. Iran can use about 30 percent, and 70 percent remains unutilized underground.
