Iran is going to make room for 100 kilogram more uranium than its current stockpile, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran spokesman Behrooz Kamalvandi said.
“As our interpretation of how to calculate enriched nuclear material has been accepted and implemented (by the Joint Commission monitoring the JCPOA), the task of cleaning sediments at nuclear facilities will soon begin, opening space for 100 kilogram more of such material,” he told IRIB news agency January 13.
Kamalvandi said his organization was going to publish the text of how the agreed nuclear stockpile is calculated.
“Within this framework, we feed depleted uranium to the machines on one end to receive natural uranium on the other end. When the task is finished, the amount of material remaining inside the machines - which we should register as IAEA property - hits zero," he explaned.
According to a 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers, Iran is committed to have no more than 300 kilograms of low-enriched uranium.
