Iran invests in expanding highway network across transit corridors - official

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 7. Iran is making significant efforts to complete over 6,000 kilometers of highways across seven key corridors, an official from Iran’s Transport Infrastructure Construction and Development Company Mahmoud Molla Zeinal told reporters, Trend reports.

According to him, 2,830 kilometers of these highways have already been put into operation. Work is ongoing to complete an additional 339 kilometers of highway.

Molla Zeinal explained that the total cost to finish the highway projects across the seven corridors is estimated to be 5.3 trillion rials (around $9.23 billion).

In addition, Molla Zeinal noted that 3,050 kilometers of highways have already been opened for use in the country, while construction is still underway on 760 kilometers. Research is also being conducted on 1,880 kilometers of highway routes.

Currently, Iran operates a highway network of 2,793 kilometers of motorways, 45,170 kilometers of main roads, and essential routes across the country.
