BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 2. Iran has invested 75 trillion rials (approximately $130 million) in 3,984 gas supply and development projects, Trend reports.
According to Tavakkoli, the gasification projects will provide gas to 800 villages, 5 cities, and 2,636 industrial enterprises, alongside the commissioning of a new gas transportation pipeline.
Additionally, Iran plans to allocate 6 trillion rials (around $10.4 million) to supply gas to 24 more villages, 519 industrial enterprises, and construct another gas pipeline.
Tavakkoli also highlighted plans to commission several key infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing gas exports. These include the Rasht-Chalvand gas pipeline, the gas condensate export platform at the Port of Siraf, and the modernization of measuring equipment at the Bazargan gas export station. A total of $182 million has been spent on these export-focused projects.
Iran holds the world’s second-largest natural gas reserves, estimated at around 34 trillion cubic meters, with 22 active gas fields. The country’s total hydrocarbon reserves are estimated at 1.2 trillion barrels, of which 340 billion barrels of oil can be extracted using current technology. However, only about 30% of these reserves are currently accessible, with the remaining 70% still untapped underground.
