The volume of transshipment of crude oil across the ports of Turkey made up over 1.3 million tons in January 2021, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Mar.1.
According to the ministry, in the reporting month, the volume of crude oil handled by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 167,195 tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – over 1.2 million tons.
Meanwhile, more than 4 million tons of crude oil were transited via Turkish ports.
In January 2021, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to over 29.1 million tons, including more than 2.5 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag.
During the reporting month, 6.04 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.
Besides, according to the ministry, in 2020, the volume of cargo movement through the Turkish ports amounted to 365.4 million tons. Some 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying Turkish flag, and 335.7 million tons – by ships flying the flags of other countries.
Over the past year, more than 72.4 million tons of cargo had been transited through the ports of Turkey, added the ministry.
