BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 22. The Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan has a history spanning more than a century, evolving through numerous stages of development marked by challenging and complex trials, said Kamran Aliyev, Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
Speaking at the international conference titled “Guardians of Sovereignty: Constitutional Status of the Prosecutor's Office” in Baku, Aliyev highlighted that the first Constitution of independent Azerbaijan brought a fresh perspective on the role of national prosecutorial bodies in the life of the state and society.
“Although the prosecutor’s office is linked to the judiciary, the Constitution guarantees its independence. The Constitution and sectoral laws establish the prosecutor’s office as a supreme body safeguarding the interests of the state and society. Its status ensures independent and objective action in upholding the rule of law, protecting human and civil rights, and defending public and state interests. The institution plays a vital role in strengthening the legal state and promoting the democratic development of our society,” Aliyev said.
He concluded by noting that the conference will contribute to further development of international cooperation and professional exchanges.
