BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15. The number of salaried employees in Azerbaijan increased by 35,300 people, or 2.05 percent, as of July 1, 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan indicates that the total number of salaried employees for the first of July 2024 amounted to 1.76 million people, including 887,500 people in the public sector of the economy and 887,500 people in the private sector.
Of the total number of employed citizens, 18.8 percent work in education, 18.5 percent in trade and vehicle repair, and 8.3 percent in health care and social services.

To note, according to preliminary data, the average monthly nominal wage of salaried employees in Azerbaijan from January through June 2024 increased by 8.8 percent compared to the same period last year. It amounted to 1,002 manat ($559).
The average monthly nominal wage was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, and scientific and technical activities.
