ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 4. In 2025, the construction of new highways and repair of 13,000 km of roads will begin, said the Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev at a government meeting, Trend reports.

"In 2025, it is planned to repair 13,000 km of roads. Of these, 9,500 km are already secured with the necessary financial resources, and the remaining roads are under consideration for financing. Competitive procedures are being held for new projects to determine contractors before the start of the construction season. By the end of 2025, the condition of republican roads will be 94 percent, and local roads will be 91 percent," the minister added.

According to the minister, the construction of projects that started in previous years, totaling 1,080 km, is continuing: Kalbatau–Maikapchagay (405 km), Kurty–Konayev (67 km), Kyzylorda–Zhezkazgan (398 km), and Uzynagash–Otar (42 km). Also, the construction of new highways with a total length of 1,050 km of the first technical category will begin.

The minister emphasized that when choosing contractors, preference will be given to domestic companies or consortia with foreign partners, which will contribute to the further development of Kazakhstan's construction sector.

To note, by the order of President Tokayev, it is planned to reconstruct 3,000 km of roads by 2029, upgrading them to the first and second categories. This will give a new impetus to the development of the industry and the economy of Kazakhstan.
