ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 17. The construction of a phosphate ore processing plant in partnership with China's Tianchen Engineering Corporation LTD started in Kazakhstan's Turkestan region, Trend reports.
The investment project "Sozak Phosphate" by Souths-Oil company, implemented in the Sozak district of the Turkestan region, has received support from the regional administration led by Nuralkhan Kusherov, who participated in the plant’s foundation ceremony. The project is included in the industrialization map.
"President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has tasked us with diversifying
the economy and developing production. Active efforts are underway
in this direction across the region. Today, we are starting the
construction of a significant investment project for the Turkestan
region and the Sozak district. This plant will process phosphoric
waste to produce fertilizers essential for agriculture. The launch
of the facility will reduce our dependence on imported
phosphorus-based fertilizers. The fertilizers and chemicals
produced here will positively impact the stabilization of food
prices in the country. The funds invested in the project will
undoubtedly yield returns and create a multiplier effect on the
economy of both the district and the region. Infrastructure support
will also be provided," stated Nuralhan Kusherov during the
ceremony.
The project is being implemented in partnership with Souths-Oil and
China Tianchen Engineering Corporation LTD. The ceremony was
attended by leaders of these companies, Serikzhan Seitzhanov and
Lian Junxiang.
The planned investment volume is about 140 billion tenge ($280 million), and around 1,000 jobs will be created. Environmental standards will be strictly adhered to, and modern technologies for processing phosphate waste, producing fertilizers, and their deep processing will be applied.
The expected capacity of the project is 1 million tons of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertilizers and 600,000 tons of phosphoric nitrate per year. Commissioning is scheduled for 2027. In addition to the domestic market, the products will be exported to India, China, and neighboring countries.
