ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 22. The Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant (PPP), a subsidiary of KazMunayGas (KMG), is installing new Japanese Hitachi BCH455 rich gas compressors at its Deep Oil Refining Facility (DORF) as part of the next stage of its technical modernization, Trend reports.
The introduction of this equipment will significantly improve energy efficiency from 75 percent to 87 percent, reduce power consumption from 3.10 MW to 2.3 MW, and greatly increase the interval between maintenance from 8,600 to 24,000 hours, which will also lower maintenance costs.
“This current modernization continues previously completed work: in 2023–2024, the Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant (PPP) completed the replacement of Ingersoll Rand air compressors. While the previous phase was critical to ensuring a reliable supply of compressed air for instrumentation and plant-wide needs, the current project involving Hitachi compressors directly impacts the core technological process. The new units will compress hydrocarbon gas, which is an integral part of deep oil refining,” the KazMunayGas press service stated.
Thus, both projects - the replacement of air and gas compressors—are complementary components of the Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant’s comprehensive modernization. This demonstrates KMG’s consistent strategy of adopting advanced technologies to support sustainable development and enhance the competitiveness of Kazakhstan’s oil refining industry.
The Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant is one of Kazakhstan’s largest enterprises in oil refining and petrochemical production. It is located in the city of Pavlodar and is a subsidiary of JSC NC “KazMunayGas.”
