Turkmenistan, Moldova to discuss cooperation in power engineering

The intensification of cooperation in the field of power engineering and
the agro-industrial complex will be discussed during Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti's official visit to Turkmenistan on April 6-8, the Moldovan media reported.

Earlier, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti agreed to intensify the cooperation in the field of power engineering and
the agro-industrial complex, as well as the implementation of joint projects in the fields of culture, education, tourism and sports, online edition www.noi.md. reported.

The official delegation will include Moldovan Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ion Sula, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi, director of the winery Valentin Bodiul and others.

Turkmenistan is one of the key players on the gas market in the Caspian region and Central Asia. At this stage, Turkmen natural fuel consumers are China, Iran and Russia. Turkmenistan with its natural gas reserves ranks fourth in the world. It is looking for new markets in South Asia and Europe.

President Berdimuhamedov's official visit to Moldova gave an impetus to the bilateral relations in 2013.

A package of the intergovernmental documents, namely, a memorandum of understanding between the chambers of commerce of the two countries; a convention for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion on income and property and several others was signed in Chisinau.

Turkmenistan and Moldova agree about the need to intensify cooperation in the formation of transport and transit corridors from Asia to Europe via the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea.
