Uzbekistan is planning to improve its positions in international ratings in 2018-2019, the draft of the presidential decree published on the website of the Legal Acts Impact Assessment System on May 3 reads.
In line with the decree, the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan has developed a roadmap, which may enter into force on June 1, 2018.
“Due to lack of structured cooperation with international rating agencies, Uzbekistan's positions in the ratings hasn’t improved,” the document's preamble reads.
According to the document, the country is aiming at improving positions in the national credit rating of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the World Bank’s "Doing Business" rating, the World Economic Forum Index, the Transparency International’s corruption index, The Economist Intelligence Unit Democracy Index, The Rule of Justice Index of The World Justice Project, and the press freedom index of the Reporters Without Borders.
A permanent interdepartmental coordination group, headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov, will be established to implement the roadmap.
The interdepartmental group will be entrusted to establish cooperation and dialogue with experts of international organizations and rating agencies to receive their recommendations in order to further develop proposals for improving the country's position.
